So, you have a double chin. You are not alone!
What is available to remove double chins?
There are several treatments that promise submental fat reduction. Ultherapy for example, uses ultrasound technology to tighten skin. It treats the surface of the skin, can be very painful and requires several applications. Thermage is another treatment that uses radiofrequency, it treats the surface of the skin, also painful and requires several applications.
Kybella is a new drug recently approved by the FDA approved to melt fat in the jawline area. While this is very promising, there are a few things to consider: the new drug needs to be injected around 6 times, one month apart. It will not address laxity, meaning that the skin will hang looser and another procedure will be needed to correct that.
Rejuvent is very proud to now offer ThermiTight to our patients!
ThermiTight is a minimally invasive procedure that melts fat and tightens skin. Usually, one procedure is all it takes and the results improve over time.
ThermiTight at-a-glance:
Who can benefit from ThermiTight?
Patients with extra fat and/or sagging skin int he jawline and neck area.
What is ThermiRF Technology?
ThermiTight uses radio frequency energy to melt fat and cause tightening. This controlled thermal energy is delivered via a cannula (tiny probe) and a heat camera is used to show the physician the exact temperature of the area targeted. This prevents overheating and ensures that the whole area is treated.
What is the difference between Ultherapy and ThermiTight?
ThermiTight targets the area from inside. With ThermiTight, the physician sees the exact temperature of the skin and the areas treated, thus completely avoiding skin damage and unevenness. ThermiTight is a one-time procedure and painless; only minor discomfort has been reported. ThermiTight addresses skin laxity sagging skin). ThermiTigth patient satisfaction reported by RealSelf it at 95% vs. Ultherapy 62%.
What type of anesthesia is used?
A local anesthetic will be injected.
How long does it take?
The procedure takes between one and two hours.
Why is ThermiTight safe?
Yes. Two safety systems are used during the procedure: The cannula (probe) temperature is set below tissue damage threshold and automatically shuts off if the temperature is exceeded. The infrared heat camera is used to monitor the skin’s temperature in real time, ensuring complete safety. This camera also shows the physician the areas that he treated and the areas still to be treated.
How long does it take for my double chin to be gone?
Fat cells start dissolving immediately and skin tightening usually begins withing a week of treatment, but you might not notice it. For most patients, the “wow” factor comes at 3 months post procedure. Results will continue to improve over time and some patients have reported seeing new tightening even 18 months post-procedure.
Is ThermiTight painful?
Pain is relative and we can’t predict how you will feel, but the majority of patients do not report pain. After the procedure, some patients use Tylenol for the first couple of days.
What should I expect after the procedure?
Usually, patients wear a face bra (elastic dressing) for the first 24 hrs. Some swelling is expected, and you might have minor bruising that can be alleviated with Bromelain and Arnica.
