What is PRF?
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) is a regenerative treatment derived from your own blood. It is a concentrated mixture of platelets, growth factors, leukocytes, and fibrin, all essential components for stimulating tissue repair and collagen production.
Unlike traditional PRP treatments, PRF offers the added benefit of a higher concentration of growth factor-packed platelets and also contains stem cells that are suspended in a fibrin matrix, which provides a sustained release of growth factors over 7-10 days versus an immediate release of growth factors, leading to a more robust boost for hair follicles, collagen and elastin boost, and longer-lasting results.
At Rejuvent we currently offer PRF Injections for the face, neck, scars, stretch marks, eyebrows, and scalp.

Frequently asked questions related to PRF Injections at Rejuvent
PRF Injections is a great option for anyone with aging skin, experiencing skin dryness, laxity, skin texture irregularities, dullness, wrinkles, and looking to enhance their skin rejuvenation. It is a 100% natural treatment that boosts collagen and elastin production using your own platelets for maximum results. The fibrin matrix in PRF acts as a scaffold, gradually releasing growth factors over a longer period, potentially enhancing the treatment’s effects. This process over time hydrates the skin, softens wrinkles, improves texture, tightens skin, and promotes fresh, radiant, more youthful skin.
PRF is a more advanced form of platelet therapy compared to PRP. It is derived from the patient’s blood as well, but it undergoes a different processing technique. Instead of using anticoagulants or chemicals, PRF is prepared by spinning the blood sample in a centrifuge without any additives. This results in a fibrin clot that contains platelets, leukocytes (white blood cells), and plasma. The fibrin clot is then used for various aesthetic treatments.
- Composition – PRP mainly consists of platelets, while PRF includes platelets, leukocytes, and plasma. The presence of leukocytes in PRF is believed to have additional benefits, such as increased immune response and tissue regeneration.
- Preparation Technique – PRP requires the addition of anticoagulants and centrifugation to separate the platelets. PRF, on the other hand, is processed without anticoagulants, leading to the formation of a fibrin clot.
- Growth Factor Release – PRF has a slower release of growth factors compared to PRP. The fibrin matrix in PRF acts as a scaffold, gradually releasing growth factors over a longer period, potentially enhancing the treatment’s effects.
- Clinical Applications – PRP and PRF can be used for similar purposes, such as skin rejuvenation, scar reduction, and hair restoration. However, PRF may be preferred in cases where a more prolonged release of growth factors is desired or when there is a need for additional regenerative properties associated with leukocytes.
- Collagen Production – PRP contains growth factors that stimulate collagen production, a crucial protein responsible for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness. As we age, collagen production decreases, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. PRP injections can help stimulate new collagen formation, improving skin texture and elasticity.
- Skin Hydration and Plumping – PRP injections can improve skin hydration by attracting and retaining moisture, which results in a more radiant and plump complexion.
- Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles – As PRP stimulates collagen production and enhances tissue regeneration, fine lines and wrinkles can become less noticeable, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
- Improvement in Skin Tone and Pigmentation – PRP injections can help even out skin tone and reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation or sunspots, leading to a more balanced and youthful complexion.
- Minimization of Pores – PRP injections can contribute to reducing the size of enlarged pores, giving the skin a smoother and more refined appearance.
- Enhanced skin texture – With increased collagen and tissue regeneration, the overall texture of the skin can improve, becoming smoother and more supple.
- Tissue Regeneration – The growth factors in PRP aid in tissue repair and regeneration. When injected into areas with scars or damaged skin, PRP can accelerate the healing process and promote the growth of healthy new tissue, leading to improved skin texture and reduced scarring.
- Enhanced Hair Follicle Stimulation – PRF injections deliver a potent mixture of growth factors directly into the scalp, which can stimulate and awaken dormant hair follicles. This can lead to increased hair growth and the prevention of further hair loss.
- Hair Follicle Regeneration – The growth factors in PRF promote tissue regeneration, including the regeneration of hair follicles. This process can help improve the thickness and density of hair in thinning areas (including eyebrows).
- Improved Blood Circulation – PRF injections can improve blood circulation in the scalp, ensuring that hair follicles receive a better supply of nutrients and oxygen. This enhanced blood flow can support healthier hair growth.
- Natural and Safe Treatment – PRF is derived from the patient’s blood, minimizing the risk of allergic reactions or adverse effects. As a natural treatment, it offers a safe option for individuals seeking to address hair loss without the use of synthetic or chemical substances.
- Non-Surgical Approach – PRF injections for hair loss are minimally invasive and typically involve a simple in-office procedure. Unlike surgical hair restoration methods, there is no need for incisions, stitches, or extensive recovery time.
- No Downtime – PRF injections for hair loss usually have minimal downtime, allowing individuals to resume their daily activities soon after the treatment.
- Long-Lasting Results – While individual results may vary, some patients experience long-lasting effects from PRF injections. Follow-up treatments may be necessary to maintain the results over time.
- Complementary to Other Hair Loss Treatments – PRF injections can be used in combination with other hair loss treatments, such as topical medications or laser therapy, to enhance overall results and address hair loss from multiple angles.
- Suitable for Various Types of Hair Loss – PRF injections can benefit individuals experiencing different types of hair loss, including androgenetic alopecia (male and female pattern baldness) and hair loss due to aging or other factors.
A small amount of your blood with be drawn by the Rejuvent nurse, or Phlebotomist.
PRF is prepared by spinning the blood sample in a centrifuge without any additives. This results in a fibrin clot that contains platelets, leukocytes (white blood cells), and plasma. The fibrin clot is then used for your aesthetic injection.
Dr. Bomer or Dr. Bouzoukis will inject the PRF into areas on your skin and/or scalp.
The number of treatments needed depends on each individual patient, the patient’s desired results, and the individual treatment plan. Our doctors will offer their recommendations based on your goals.
At Rejuvent we provide injections with expert anesthesia for a comfortable experience for all patients. Our doctors will take all steps to ensure your comfort during the procedure.
To have the best yield of PRF from the blood it is essential for the patient to be very well hydrated. We recommend drinking at least 2 liters of water per day for 2 days prior to a PRF treatment. The amount of PRF obtained from the blood is directly influenced by the degree of hydration.
We will provide easy-to-follow suggestions on what to take and what to avoid before your injections.
We recommend no ice immediately following the procedure. Best to not shower or strain after the injections, but the day after there are no restrictions on activity other than care to not get sunburned in the area of injection.
For skin, there are immediate results seen within a few days with mild plumping and a dewy hydrated appearance. This converts into long-term results with improved elasticity and more robust collagen, plumping the skin, buffing out fine lines, and lightening pigmentation. Results will vary depending on patient details.
For hair growth, there will be an immediate boost to existing hair to become thicker and stronger and new hair growth can be seen in 2 to 6 months after the treatment. Re-treatment is recommended every 3 to 6 months until the desired effect is achieved. Results will vary depending on patient details.
